Kibwe Chase-Marshall and Joseph Roh
met in the spring of 2015 while working as consultants for West Coast accessories manufacturers. Their complementary skillsets—Chase-Marshall’s rigorous design background and technical illustration skills, Roh's unmatched pattern-making excellence and knowledge of world-class bag construction techniques—cultivated a creative synergy that neither had encountered previously. In the summer of 2022 their orbits re-converged and they seized upon the opportunity to partner.

They began developing boldly simplified shapes and constructions with the objective of stripping away unnecessary elements of the conventional bag-building process. When Kibwe suggested that they consider using the French idiom for “slingshots” as their brand’s name, Joseph fell in love with the idea of a moniker that symbolized aiming at far-flung goals
…and LANCE PIERRES LOS ANGELES was born.
